Vertical Disc Mixer

A vertical disc mixer is a mixing device that uses a vertical disc as a container and achieves material mixing through high-speed tumbling of stirring teeth or arms. This equipment can be classified into types such as ordinary vertical disc mixers and planetary vertical disc mixers. Ordinary vertical disc mixers employ a single-shaft rotating structure, with the stirring arms fixed to the cylindrical cover and rotating with the main shaft. Planetary vertical disc mixers feature stirring paddles that simultaneously rotate on their own axis and revolve around a central axis, achieving complex motion trajectories within the cylinder and eliminating dead zones in the mixing process.

The core technology of vertical disc mixers has continuously evolved around the principles of “vertical layout, three-dimensional mixing, compactness, and high efficiency.” From the initial simple mixing structure to the integration of auxiliary functions such as anti-stick lining, automatic scraping, and atomized liquid spraying, the equipment technology has become increasingly mature. The widespread application of vertical disc mixers in industries such as fertilizers, chemicals, and building materials has made them an indispensable core equipment in the field of powder mixing.

System composition and technical architecture

The technical architecture of vertical disc mixers can be divided into the following levels:
Ordinary Vertical Disc Mixer:Employs a single-shaft rotating structure. The mixing disc contains a cylinder with a cover, and the mixing arms are fixed to the cover. The output shaft of the reducer drives the mixing main shaft, which has fixed mixing teeth. It features a simple structure, convenient operation, and high cost-effectiveness. Suitable for conventional powder mixing.

Planetary Vertical Disc Mixer:The mixing paddles rotate both on their own axis and around a central point. This achieves complex motion trajectories within the cylinder, eliminating dead zones in the mixing process. Suitable for special materials requiring extremely high mixing uniformity.

Industry applications and process compatibility

Vertical disc mixers are suitable for multiple industries. Organic fertilizer industry: mixing ingredients for organic fertilizers and bio-organic fertilizers. Compound fertilizer industry: mixing raw materials for compound fertilizers and blended fertilizers. Chemical industry: mixing powders for fine chemicals and coatings. Building materials industry: mixing architectural coatings and insulation materials. Mining industry: mixing mineral processing reagents.

Material adaptability analysis

Vertical disc mixers are highly adaptable to various materials. Material form: powdery, granular, high-moisture, and viscous materials. Material particle size: generally not exceeding 5 cm. Material moisture content: capable of handling high-moisture materials; the disc is lined with polypropylene or stainless steel plates for non-stick properties. Mixing type: dry powder to dry powder, dry powder to liquid (via top atomizing nozzle).
